chance

Chance touches on the very idea of freedom. To give yourself over to chance is to embrace freedom, the unknown, total openness. Montreal curator Claude Gosselin spoke about the importance of chance in contemporary art in a recent Canadian Art magazine. It reminded me of the way I choose threads for my daily journal. I close my eyes.

LOL I remember when I started quilting and people recommended putting all your pieces into a brown paper bag and pulling them out randomly... Never seemed to work for me for whatever reason and I ended up using other systems to shuffle my pieces and help randomize them. But the sense of total chance, sometimes I have to really work at that. Thanks Judy.
