judith e martin dot com

The main thing in this post is that I have a new website.
It holds my work in order and I'm pleased to announce judithemartin.com .
That's judith with an e martin, the e stands for Evelynn.

Zoe helped me with the square space website.  We launched it when the moon entered Aries last weekend.  Thank you sweet Zoe. xo

In this post, images of recent projects.
The first one is a rescued quilt that I'm mending with circles of dyed velvet.
But it's time to fold it up and let it steep a bit.

I've moved on to a different project,   'new beginning' ,
It's mentioned in the lecture 'my awakened heart / my pandemic summer.
I'm quilting into it from the back.

Vincent's words in my head

I must continue to follow the path I take now.
If I do nothing, if I study nothing,
If I cease searching, then, woe is me.
 I am lost.
That is how I look at it -- keep going.

Keep going come what may.
But what is your final goal, you may ask.
That goal will become clearer, will emerge slowly but surely,
much as the rough draft turns into a sketch,
and the sketch into a painting through the serious work done on it,
through the elaboration of the original vague idea
and through the consolidation of the first fleeting and passing thought.
Vincent Van Gogh said these things.

Q How did you develop your skills?

Actually, I am not concerned about skill.

I am an amateur, (from the Latin verb amare: to love).  I do this work because I love it so much.

If I thought about whether I was doing things correctly, I wouldn't get nearly as much done.
My motto is ‘Plunge in and go Slow”.

I believe that if you have an idea, it’s important to begin while you are inspired.

With patience and self-study, I learned how to do the French knot.
I learned how to do mitered corners.  I learned how to ensure my triangles had crisp points.

These technical things were conquered when I needed to.
In this post, photos of my newest nine-patch...in progress.

9-patch is a pattern that I find satisfying to make and be comforted by.
