inspired by Finnish rugs

My father came over from Finland when he was five years old. The rugs woven from cloth and clothing have always been my favourites, and we have several. In researching my own heritage, I was reminded of these rugs and considered learning to weave them. My technique however, is not weaving - it is couching.

I thought the top photo WAS a rug til I scrolled down and realized-
That post is a real tease! What did you use? It's wonderful. And I'm dying to see the back.

Oh! Silly me. Now I see the brown is a fabric strip.

I've been silently following your journal ever since I found Jude Hill and she had a link, which hasn't been that long, I didn't have high speed. I am 2nd generation Finn both parents came from Finland, and I am in awe over your couched rendition. Definately a meditative process. I use to go to Canada a lot when I was younger and had many friends on the reserves up there, I thought you were native. Love everything you do, your work is incredible!
