Yay! I remember this piece from a show at Harbourfront. It feels like an old friend.

I'm not sure of course because of my confusion over this art thing. I have been thinking that art is the new form that results from the exchange between consciousness and materials, at least that is where I have been lately.

I like what you said Nancy, and I like what Jude said too. The two descriptions do not disagree. What a beautiful piece this is. I still want to know more about how the photographs are attached (screened on to cloth? or the actual photos sewed in to place...and if the latter, then how does one preserve them? Do they crackle?). Hope you answer.

Michelle,
these are actual snap shots stitched to cloth. I took one photo a day for one year - out of one of the windows of my house.

Pictured is the East Wall of the house with the golden Windows - and there were not many windows on that wall.

I am going to post more about this piece, as I have just re-photographed it digitally.

But as far as the photos cracking or whatever - they don't seem to mind being trimmed and stitched down with machine. When I fold the piece up, I try not to fold the photos however. They don't like that.

xx
