Too Beautiful
We are having a mild November and the day was just too beautiful to be indoors. I took my stitch journal outside to photograph. Laying it out on the grass made me realize that even though this piece seems large and never ending as I doggedly work on it day by day, compared to the constancy of nature it is very small. What this stitching does do is show how invisible time is. And how short. A whirl. A drop.

You are a true existentialist, a minimalist as well, and a mystic above all. How wonderful the contrasts, both in the fabrics and in the layouts against nature's bounty. Very fine. Very fine indeed to see your mind at work in this post.
I these cloths are one of my favourite pieces of your work, lovely to see them as a cloth path, magical.
Such a mythical journey. Like the road to and Oz-land. Such discipline, patience - unending. Serpentine. Beautiful
Nice. You're the next Christo! I thought of you this morning as I was stitching, imagining that you were likely stitching too.
Aaaah, I love that long pathway : I'd like to follow that into the blue sky! (the backside is lovely too Judy ;-)!!!)
I love to see them all in a row. They are beautiful.
I fall in love with these pieces all over again every time you show them!
ahhhhh beautiful.... but you know - I (respectfully and very humbly) don't think this shows how invisible time is -- I think instead it makes visible the invisible labour - it wallows in the lusciousness of time - it shows just how precious and important slow deliberate work is....
and I love the piece(s) all the more for that....
I love your stitch journals. That first photo simply took my breath away.
ronnie, you are right.
absolutely.
It does make time visible.
I think what I meant to say is that we usually don't think of time passing so quickly - because it just slips by invisibly, and this piece reminds us of that.
Oh my gosh, your work is beyond amazing!!!

This reminds me of a very powerful dream I had once.
Your piece resembles what I saw in Heaven with my father who had passed away.
I just looked down to see the word verification box and the word is
"Blessing...."
I have taken a picture of it, because I have never seen a real word before in the verification box...much less the word
Blessing!!! I have posted this on my blog. :)
Blessing to you Judy,
Susan
I bet it loved to be outside... I would love to take a walk along that fabric path, it looks so inviting.
It does make you think about time seeing all of the pieces, the stitches. Many thoughts in your mind as you stitched...

The stitches look almost like writing when you see the pieces laid out like this. The language of time, maybe.
You're telling a story with these pieces, a story of time and yourself! I love the simplicity!!
they love being outside, don't they?
i love all these photos!
That first photo is a breathtaking invitation to possibility...I love it :) ...as I love this daily work of yours.
A drop... a drop in time thats what we are, not that important at all. Good to use this little time stitching.
Your stitch journal is too beautiful for words!

A whirl. A drop. Wow, sounds like life. Time, so fleeting when measured against the ground of nature. A beautiful post - thanks!
