connected to the body

tablecloth, dyed red with procion, then overdyed with blackberry, then devore process to make a grid of holes empty spaces, lace, absence, loss, mortality

Cloth is like the human body. It holds memories and dreams at the same time. It wears out.

I love that quote Judy...I had to write it in my journal immediately.

Beautiful cloth. I love the red. What is the devore method you mention for putting the holes/circles in the cloth.

I used a product called fiber etch which destroys cellular fibers where it has been applied. Some people use it to make silk rayon cut velvet scarves. It used to be very trendy, but this is the first time I have tried it, although I have had it on my shelf for about 8 years.

I painted it on, allowed it to dry, then heated the areas with a heat gun (you can also use an iron) and then rubbed away the perfect circles that I had painted.

You are supposed to work with good ventilation - which I did.

As I said, this was my first time using devore. I'd like to have more experience myself before I do a full blown tutorial, but thanks for your question.
