snowy midwinter

In the darkest depths of winter

the spark of the new year's light
is understood.

This is a white embroidery - white on white.

I was startled when I saw the photos - back lit, they were so dark.

It gave me a new way to see this piece - as henrietta says - as if a starry night.

This post marks today. The winter solstice. The shortest and darkest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.

I see tree rings and infinity in these cloths. Happy Winter - may it hold warm fire glows and an abundance of inspiration!

I was wondering if it was your white on white cloth. It's beautiful and such a great Happy solstice symbol.

The idea of tree rings - of how they are time made visible - was something that I had not thought of before. Thanks for that insight, Valerianna.

I love that.

White on white? Really? Light, or the absence of it, changes everything...
