I lost my spiral necklace

I lost my spiral necklace. I wore it every day for thirty years. A simple metal spiral, quite large, it hung from a leather lace. I don't have a photo of it. Sometimes I wore it underneath my blouse, like an amulet. It was simple, curvy. It was me.
This may seem trivial, but to me, it is not.
Loss. Disappearance. I wonder if it was my fault? There must be a reason.

Oh no! Is there a chance you can find it again? I'm so sorry.

No, not trivial. I understand.

My grandpa gave me a hematite necklace just before he died...it was a heart. He bought it in Alaska. I wore it all the time. A year later when my grandma was visiting me I was walking through a carpark carrying Leilani - she pulled the necklace ...it fell to the ground...seeing it break was like grandpa dying all over again. It wasn't with me for as long...but I understand the loss. Remember when I almost lost the stone in my wedding ring? That was a dreadful feeling. I still need to get it repaired.

hugs.

Jeana

Sometimes things just happen - no-ones fault. I hope you find your necklace Judy.

I know and understand the feeling of loss. For 50 years I wore a sharks tooth I had retrieved myself from the ocean blue as a child. I lost it in the move out here and still mourn it's moving on to somewhere or someone else.

I had a chain with three charms, charms my husband had given me that meant something to him. One day it was gone. I suspected that I lost it on the country road in front of my house while walking my dog. A few days later, my dog found the chain for me, but the charms were no where to be found. A year later, walking on that same road, I saw a glint of silver. There were the three charms. Home again. Maybe your necklace will come home again as well.

I clutched my neck when I read this even though I've never worn anything there for long, I felt your gesture and that sad emptiness.

Not trivial at all. On my 43rd birthday, and being silly trying to prove I could still climb like a 10 year old, I climbed to the top of a rope tower in a children's playground. When I climbed down again, the little watch my husband had given me (years before he became my husband!) on my 22nd birthday was gone from my wrist. We searched but it was lost in the sand forever. I'm wearing a new watch now, a Christmas gift from him, and a more expensive one than he could afford as a 21 year old student and part-time waiter. But somehow it's not quite the same.

I do feel your loss. Don't dwell on it, it does no good. Perhaps it will return and if not, there is nothing you can do about it. It was not your fault. Is there really no photo of you when you have it on?

There MUST be a photo of me wearing it, you are right. Shall look.

I would be sad too. In reading the comments I see that everyone has a story of mutual loss. Not sure why we have to suffer losses like this...part of living with the cycles of up and down, the waves of emotion and how we adjust to these is my guess. I hope that you find it.

This also happened to me one month ago and I still feel my stomach uncomfortable when I remember it...

My grandma used to say in this cases: "it went with the wind"

I know how connected we can be to something like that, so I feel your loss--hopefully it's just temporary. I love the spirals in these pieces..

Yes, I also lost my address book .

I hope that both necklace and address book are in the same place - and that they will turn up.

Thanks for all your care.

when I loose a signature piece of jewelry or a totem thing, I always think that it was time to let go of it and move on to another piece of "expression", perhaps you have grown and not realized that the spiral is no longer a totem for you...

Because I liked it,
It wasn't even,

But it triggered,

I hope the lost is found soon. xoxo
