
The embroidery featured in the center was done by African artist
Nobonie in support of
Stephen Lewis's grandmother to grandmother campaign. I purchased it from
Val Hearder last year, to help raise money for Aids orphans. Placed originally as a focal point in the center back of a bed sized wall quilt, I bravely cut away the sides today and the result is a 3 feet wide by 7 feet high hanging. I hope to deliver it to Nicole and
the Gore Bay Museum on Thursday along with a fantastic statement (not yet written) about the red thread in textiles around the world.
"I am so excited" whispers Nicole Wheppler, curator "about this exhibit."
