silk thread on linen pillow caseI’m not sure I even like the imagery that is coming forth recently but I have a need to keep working away at it because it’s interesting if not beautiful. There is a mystery in the wrapped things I’m drawing – but they do not satisfy me completely yet. I’m trying to express a universal idea of nurturing /keeping/ insecurity/ vulnerability - quite a complex mix. I want to create work about our contemporary life in both a cerebral AND emotional way.
I'm trying to create whatever it is that overcomes people when they recognize themselves. It makes them cry, but they're not sad. They're moved. That’s the emotion I want to grab and that's the kind of image I want to make. Intimate.
