Imbolc

The last time I saw this embroidery was when I was at the Greenwood Quiltery in Guelph. Joanne Greenberg displays it in the store's workshop.

Brighid is the mistress of inspiration for poets and other creative folk in Ireland. The first full moon of February is the first day of Imbolc, the spring quarter of the year. Imbolc is Brighid's season.

Brighid is a protector and she is invoked during Imbolc by making crosses out of interwoven rushes to hang near doors.
