Judith e Martin

Judy Martin lives and works on Manitoulin Island, Lake Huron, central Canada.
 She holds a first class honours degree in Embroidered Textiles.  
(2012, Middlesex University, London United Kingdom )
  Judy creates large scale, hand stitched artwork from found and re-purposed cloth.
  
   Judy Martin won the Craft Ontario Volunteer Committee Award for Excellence 2018

2019  Ontario Craft 19 - Ontario Craft Gallery downtown Toronto  Judy has been invited to              display her stitched textile "How Much I Tried Not To Worry"  jurors:  David Kaye,

          All Stitched Up - a group show of stitched books, Washington State USA library,                    Judy's cloth book "the power of red" will show  

          Hard Twist Entwined  opens September 6 until January 2020  Gladstone Hotel,                      Judy's journal paper stithced into domestic linen piece, Red Catalogne will show

          3-D Expression, a SAQA global touring exhibition beginning in Grand Rapids                        Michigan at the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum in September 2019 This show                will tour for 3 years - Judy will be displaying the 220 foot long stitched journal, Not To            Know But To Go On 
          
          Judy's Quilt National 2017 quilt, Soft Summer Gone has been invited to be collected              by the International Quilt Museum: Lincoln Nebraska, still to be finalized. 
2020  Red Thread a sequal  June through October 
          a solo exhibition in response to the collection of artifacts in the old jail part of the                    Gore Bay Museum, and a continuation of the Red Thread exhibition that Judy had at            this venue in 2008. May through October. Invited by the curator of the Gore Bay                    Musem, Nicole Weppler

          Mosaica SAQA Conference - Toronto March 2020, Miranda Bouchard will present                  about her experience curating the two person exhibition with senior Canadian stitch              artists, Judy Martin Manitoulin Island and Penny Berens Nova Scotia    

2021  as yet Untitled group exhibition organized by Susan Avishai.  Textile artists who work            with reclaimed domestic textiles or used clothing.
          Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte Ontario 
          
          Looking Up and Looking Down (working title)
          Another exhibition with Judy's colleague, Penny Berens of Nova Scotia - plant dyed              and hand stitched work.  We hope to tour this exhibition of brand new work!  
          First confirmed venue is the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte Ontario in              August 2021

2014  Stitches Across Time  national exhibition, pieces inspired by six pieces in the Dufferin Museum and Archives collection.  Judy Martin, Judith Tinkl, Dorie Millerson were jurors.
