wanting to continue on

This post is about my count-down quilt.
I put two days of work into it every 6  weeks,
sewing log cabin blocks to foundations from scrap fabrics that have arrived in my life.

The intent is to celebrate that my husband and I will be married 50 years in 2023.
I'm making one log cabin block for each week as we count down to the 50th anniversary.
This is the first quilt top.
Probably there will be four such quilt tops when I'm done - as long as things continue on.

Wanting them to continue on.

This quilt is like a prayer.  I hope that nothing changes
166 more weeks to go.

  6. Each block is also a celebration of the moment in your life together when you made it, seems to me. It’s an important year for us too.

  9. Thank you for these supportive comments. I think Camilla's comment about the paying attention to the moments and the weeks as we live through them is quite profound. Sewing helps me to slow down and notice, be more present, be more thankful, about this period of my life. Even as time whirls along, I feel somehow as if I am catching it in these gridded nets. One good thing about quilts is that they provide comfort on so many levels and I think these will hold me close through whatever happens in our future. xo

  11. I love it, so much. For its meaning, and for the technique. Putting together pieces, however small, is the essence of a good marriage (should be done by both members though!).

  14. Somehow, this post made it's way to my eyes this morning. The first picture made me catch my breath. I read the story, teared up with the last pictured and prayed with you. May your song play on..
