I must continue to follow the path I take now.
If I do nothing, if I study nothing,
If I cease searching, then, woe is me.
I am lost.
That is how I look at it -- keep going.
Keep going come what may.
But what is your final goal, you may ask.
That goal will become clearer, will emerge slowly but surely,
much as the rough draft turns into a sketch,
and the sketch into a painting through the serious work done on it,
through the elaboration of the original vague idea
and through the consolidation of the first fleeting and passing thought.
Vincent Van Gogh said these things.

ReplyDeleteTo see all of your stitches and read these words, to see your cloths hanging in nature, and up close is to know the importance of art, of making, of being in process...for the goal may shift, move, change, but the process will hold you. I do so love coming here. Be well.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear friends for your generous comments. My work is my saviour during these uncertain and strange times. I really do need it as much as I need to drink water. love you xo
ReplyDeleteI recognize this process. Writing something long, vague, a novel. And at first, you just follow the image like following a horse through tall grasses.
ReplyDeleteAt first, this vagueness drove me crazy, making me think I had nothing at all. But it was so compelling, I knew I couldn't forsake it.
