colour

olive green and turkey  red
impulsive, trusting, I cut up my beautiful white cloth  (see here)
and used up these procion dyes from my stash
The process took me two hours from white fabric to coloured.   After months of working with plant dyes, I'd forgotten this instant sugar hit.
beautiful red, I love you
I'm now stitching into that red while April works beside me on her penny necklaces.

  1. Now that you mention it, it really is like a sugar rush...no wonder I like it so much!

  3. really nice photos and really good to see how you are doing both: the "sugar high" and the plant dye work. I am a new convert to the plant dyes but an avid one..and have a bunch of acid and other dyes to use..evolving from a felter to a new place maybe. Always wonderful to see work like yours and read journals..thanks, ginny

  4. had to look up procion dye--found it at dick blick (http://www.dickblick.com/products/procion-mx-fiber-reactive-cold-water-dye/)...and Dharma too....WOW to the color shift! I'm thinking...maybe I will...deviate from plants sometime. I can only imagine your next stage...and a penny necklace..drilled holes?

  5. April's penny necklaces begin with pennies flattened on the train tracks. They go through several steps after that...

  6. Love your love of these rich colors! I'd love to see one of April's 'penny' neclaces. I still have the one penny I flattened on the track near my house as a kid. Wore it on leather with shells :) Nice memories.
