voluptuous time

It's about time
We had bonfires during the Easter weekend
 The previous week we were on the road and I stitched.
It's medicine, this piece.
I also took photos of the winter trees and of the emerging earth through the car window.
I'm using black wool thread to make the repetitive stitches.
Each mark is different.  They are all the same.
The kids were home for Easter
They've gone back to the city now.
And the fire is out,  the ice still in
One of the first things that Ned did when we moved here was make this fire pit.
That was over 25 years ago.

      The cross within the circle within a square - all these first shapes are archetypal, and there is an unnameable spirit to them that crosses time and cultures. xo

    I love the squirmy, lively things happening in this piece all guarded by that circle. Of time, fire, and lives.

      these squirmy shapes were not in my control - the red marks came from the eco dyeing in the linen, the ropey circles are the cords that bound that bundle, all twisted from the steam. They are lively, I agree. xo

    I love reading and seeing your work, it keeps me grounded in what I need to do with my own work. Sometimes I get distracted with what’s going on in the traditional quilting world, my work is far from that world. I love seeing your work as my role model. Different from mine, but keeps me going
