OKU

I've recently learned a lovely Japanese word. OKU.
OKU indicates the inner realm. It's used when emphasis is placed on our inner depths.
It's very difficult to express OKU and to be successful in this depends on an artist's talent and temperment. I am trying to realize and express OKU in my art work.

This beautiful word was mentioned by Shihoko Fukumoto in the very inspiring book Japan volume 2: Art Textiles of the World.

  1. I love this image. Something about the green and the raw edges.
    Beautiful.
