Brand new paintings this week, done first thing in the morning. A new ritual - to paint before thinking.

I love it and will send it to my daughter.

You are an amazingly gifted painter Judy. These are beautiful. And filled with emotion.

I can relate to the photo. My DD left me (mostly) out of her wedding plans (I didn't like it at the time, but looking back it was a blessing), and I'm not doing much of anything as 'mother of the groom' (yet) -- except making a quilt.

Love the idea of painting before thinking...a la Julia Cameron. Every morning, I write 2-3 pages before thinking. But not before coffee.

My usual morning ritual was to look into an old journal for thirty minutes, to find things that still resonate and make note. Contemplate further on them.
This way of entering my work day has served me well for years - but this week, when I opened a journal from 2006, I was inspired to paint these.

I have been trying to get into that drawing/painting place, and by going there first (for one hour) was an adventure.

And as you should ... your paintings are delightful !
All I can think about first thing in the morning is a cup of coffee and last night's crossword from the newspaper ... that's what gets me started and reassures me that my brain still works ... lol !
