I have been making baby cloths. Small pads for changing, burping, the floor.
I'm using cotton flannelette (some of it is organic) and bias binding that I have made myself.
In the photo above, there are eight or nine in each pile of baby cloth. Those on the left are unfinished.
Bound edges are a reason to love traditional quilts.
These red and dotted edges are for a coming miracle.
How wonderful! A new baby (I'm supposing it's a girl?) is such a gift. Congratulations to the whole family.
ReplyDeleteMazel tov! :-) The wee one will be richly blessed by that bounty of cloths and 'blankies'. I can't see that they are quilted; the binding adds a nice touch (I'd have just hemmed 'em!).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing you need are these soft cloths and are usually overlooked as a gift.
I also made a nursing 'tent' for my daughter, just an uneven poncho type thing. I used a yard of flannel, cut a head sized hole near one end, hemmed it and ...ta da. The added benefit was having a burp cloth already over your shoulder.
There's something quite comforting about bound edges. They contain the cloth. I don't have to worry about where it will go in its unfinishedness, if that makes sense. And even if it doesn't make sense. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of that nursing tent. x
ReplyDeleteUseful and cute gifts. You are a wise grandma!
