I brought this piece of en caustic printed linen with me as a sample for the workshop, but did not get to start stitching into it until everything was over.
I don't KNOW what I'm doing, but it is a great comfort to me just to stitch while talking with my dad.
I wish I could have come and listened to your talk; I'm glad it was well-received. Sounds like you need some quiet non-thinking stitching time now. The printed linen is very striking, powerful in a quiet sort of way.
You are fortunate to be able to spend that time with him. I lost mine suddenly one day with no warning. Your work is as compelling and beautiful as ever.I can't believe you watch Coronation Street! I live not too far from the studios and have seen the rooftops peeping over the wall.
I was playing with some fabric this morning and something clicked for me regarding what I wanted to do...pretty sure the inspiration came from this post. :)

ReplyDeletei started really stitching, and my blog, when my dad fell ill. i stitched and stitched and talked and talked. it was good.
ReplyDeleteThat looks to be a basket full of good medicine.
ReplyDeletei'm sorry i missed the talk, too, but i've been a bit under the weather...nice stitching.
ReplyDeleteOoh, those marks on that linen are so mesmerizing. I cannot understand how encaustic wax could cause the subtle, quiet dancing.
ReplyDeletei too am finding comfort in stitching. during uncomfortable times... i stitch and stitch.
ReplyDeletebeautiful piece of stitching, it's fun sometimes to not know what comes next...
