golden notebook two

I am working at being an artist.
I have a lot of projects on the go.
I make things for no reason and then exhibit them if they turn out.
This is the only way I can do good work.

The text in this post is from my 1999 journal.
Golden notebook one  is still in progress.   Shown here.

judy--does this mean that underneath the gold paint are very personal words from another time in your life? words that maybe others would burn because they are too revealing & maybe don't even slightly fit with who they/you are now ???

Yes, that is what this means.
Private memories that I want to hold.
Yet, at the same time, don't want to know.

I am working at being an artist.

This I have been doing for some years now. It involves fighting my Left Brain and the VOICES that ask, "Who do you think you are?!" and so on. I seem incapable of 'seeing' what *real* artists see...a mixed blessing, for in admiring real artists, my heart is broken...

ah ... my monthly journal is like this... words on the page obscured and covered over with an illustration that reminds me of the energy behind the words, under the paint, below the image... great post..

Oh my gosh …. Judy.
Did you know there is a book by Doris
Lessing called, "the golden notebook?"
please look it up and see what it is about.
perhaps there is some relevance here?!

I believe that there is a connection between Lessing's important work and my collected writings.

Both are about being an artist-mother-wife. More important than it is possible to say.

My first thought was of Doris Lessing's book, too. Love how you recycle, Sugar.
