just enough

floor in the sultan's palace, istanbul

nine patch connected dots

stitching between Ankara and Goreme, Turkey with wedding manicure

river of time, not knowing, going on

home
I'm home again, and preparing the artist talk for the Mended World exhibition opening.
The gallery has asked for a visual presentation, and so I gather images.
I will tell people the three important things about the body of work in the show.

Time........the many kinds of time
Touch......the mother of the senses
Large empty spaces filled with small marks...distracting the viewer's eye just enough

Are you continuing Not to Know But to Go On? If so, I'd happily send you skeins of embroidery floss. I have more than I'll ever use in this lifetime.

I am stitching Cloud of Time - a document of 365 days, using recycled damask and blue fabrics.

Not to know but to Go on covers three years of time. I wanted to make the fourth year of time that the meditation panels took to create evident - and so am making a second piece.

So no - Not continuing Not to Know but to Go On.
Yes - using embroidery floss every day - but this time just white, blue, pastels. Colours of a cloud.

Love the nine patch and the sultan's floor

haven't been here in a while... nice to see the loooong cloth still going, and those nine patches have such subtlety and texture - I love them.

What Debbie said. Almost eerie, how one mirrors the other.

Blessings!

i thought this poem was called "just enough" but turns out it's "i wish you enough".

i don't love it as much as my memory of it, but thought i would share. just enough is a good mantra for artists, and for taking care of yourself in general.

.................................

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day

may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear

bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good- bye.

They say it takes a minute to

find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love

them; but then an entire life to forget them.
