a milestone

Mended World came off the frame on Thursday. Shown is the back of the quilt. For a view of the front, click here. This milestone moves the project ahead physically and emotionally. Marimekko fabric is the secret surprise on the back of each panel. The lovely strong lines are linen thread in a back stitch. Click here to see the Marimekko fabric on the back of the first panel.

It must be so lovely to properly handle the piece after time in the frame. Beautiful.

The gingko marimekko is beautiful...what a lovely surprise! I imagine it must feel wonderful to take the quilt off the frame!

Off to check out the other marimekko fabric and the front of this piece.

Always in awe of this project.

This back is almost as beautiful as the front. Not only for the fabric, but also for the stitches we can see going through it.

this is stunning judy. i look at your work almost daily and was awestruck by the long multicolored stitched piece on the snow. what patience and love of fabric.

Oh Judy this is so beautiful! I love the shape of gingko leaves and it IS a surprise, although I love the front as well. How satisfying!

In the last photo, you can see that there needs to be a bit more quilting in the centre. I will do this with a hoop.
