wool nine patches

It has been a while since I've talked about the Manitoulin Community Circle Project that continues every Thursday in Little Current. Participants are embroidering 5 inch squares with knots or crosses which are then arranged as nine patches on lightweight flannel foundations. Here they are laid out on the actual size cotton plan. Sometimes, I feel that the project gets ahead of me. I can't keep up to it. These squares from saved wool blankets are for the fourth meditation panel. The painted design with some proposed white work is shown above. Only 117 more marked squares are needed. All welcome.

You must have to be so organized when so many hands are helping. Did you find any blankets at Frenchy's?

No Penny, I did not find wool blankets at Frenchy's. I did find some amazing wool jackets however, that I am using in my art work. I'll show those on this blog some time.

I love the subtlety of the nine patches. Contemplative and strong. Perfect for the intended setting.
And thanks so much for your comments on my blog, particularly re: The Dinner Party.

I am always drawn to this cloth...the work of so many hands, the patient stitching, the bringing it all together...thanks so much for always sharing this with us.

I love the wool flannel. Must keep an eye out at my local op. shop.
