built environment Nova Scotia

painted cedar shingles a lunenberg bump (the bay window above the front door) multi gables The buildings in Nova Scotia look settled and loved. Older than what I am used to in Northern Ontario. Once home, I went straight into piano teaching and am only now am I able to reflect on my time there and how it has affected me and perhaps my work.

I love seeing old well worn but well maintained buildings. Too often here in the US everything is torn down to make room for the newer/poorly built homes.

beautiful.

Appalachia has a way of adding on. most historical homes have had various additions over the years and tend to sprawl on their acreage or plots.

I have a thing for the multi-gabled house, beautiful.
And the red barn, I like red barns.

Funny, I like red wine, too, and "redwines" is my word verification word.... they are so often usually gobbly gook.

History filled houses. I often wonder about the lives that have centred around those homes.

What beautiful architecture...I love them all, but especially the simplicity of the weathered barn.

thanks for the pics of NS houses etc - gave me a twinge of homesickness for the Annapolis Valley - I recognize some of those houses from 30 yrs of living there.
