update

We are in a hotel in Holnon in France. I am using the hotel computer and am surprised by the keyboard. The letters and signs are in different places than I am used to. We have rented a VW Golf little black car and are learning about driving round-abouts. Our time in Holland was really nice because of Marjan and Wim's hospitality and I hope that our time in France will be as nice:
Several things have impressed me so far here.
- the tall trees that line the small roads on both sides*
- the high stone walls in many of the villages
- the lovely smell of spring in the French country side;

The above waq typed without worrying about correcting my type touching fingers. The keyboard is so different here. No picture again today - this computer did not accept my attempts. Next year I will bring my laptop!

I can so empathize with you on the keyboards. My keyboard broke this week. The one I brougth with me from America. Right now I am borrowing my husbands and the only good thing about it is that I can set my computer to think I am using a regular keyboard...but the keys still are wrong. I have always been a hunt and peck type of girl and often I mess up because the keys are all different!!
The trees along the roads here are called plane trees. A while back there was a big hubbub about the fact that so many drunk drivers meet their deaths against them. They talked of cutting them all down...
That right there displays the culteral difference more than anything I can think of *hehe*

Bonjour Judy,
I see you are having a great time in Europe. Will you be visiting the UK during your trip?
Unfortunately the Easter weather here has been uninspiring but it does mean a chance to crack on with the work - I've just been having a powerpoint lesson from my daughter to help me with the presentation aspect of this module.
If you are going to be in London whilst on this side of the pond let me know and we might be able to meet up. If not enjoy the rest of your trip and safe journey home.

I am sure you must be having a wonderful time. How fun it will be to see some of your photos on your blog when you return.

Happy Easter to you as well. Enjoy the rest of your trip, hope it will be as good as the start (or even better)

Thank you all for your good wishes. Ned and I are now in a hotel in Paris after a week in Normandy. I have to say that it is one of the nicest holidays we have ever experienced - beautiful; educational, but I would not say restful. Getting into Paris was an adventure!

When in southern France, the old, tall stone walls covered with plant life delighted me.
