Recycled fabrics hand stitched

I'm absolutely entranced with The Alabama Stitch Book by Natalie Chanin. Natalie uses cotton jersey, much of it from recycled t-shirts, to make hand stitched clothing. "We are headquartered in Florence, Alabama, and we design clothing using recycled fabrics, mainly 100 percent cotton jersey, while employing age-old techniques to produce them. We also enlist the local quilters and seamstresses who grew up learning to sew at the feet of grandmothers, mothers, and aunts." (from page 5)
So far I'm having trouble with leaving visible knots on top of my work as she recommends but I'm totally one of the converted to the natural beauty of slow hand stitching.

"I love to stitch when I have something weighing on my mind because it calms me and helps me think clearly." Natalie Chanin

There is nothing quite like the rhtym of passing a needle through cloth by hand.
